Hibs Interested in Signing Besir Iseni to Bolster Their Defence

At least three Scottish Premiership clubs are in the race to sign soon-to-be free agent Besir Iseni.

Iseni is a left-footed centre-back playing for KF Dukagjini in the Kosovan top tier, and the former U21 Macedonian international is on an expiring contract until the end of the season after joining the Klina-based club in 2023.

R.org understands from sources that Hibernian are interested in signing the 25-year-old on a free transfer after Iseni impressed in KF Dukagjini’s shirt this campaign, making 25 appearances across all competitions to date. However, R understands that Hibs are not alone in the race to sign the centre-back, with at least a couple of other Scottish clubs also interested in the versatile defender, who can operate as a left-back too, with pace, build-up play, and composure among his qualities.

With Iseni’s contract due to expire at the end of June, the defender is free to negotiate his future and talk to the interested clubs, which makes him an attractive option for many clubs around Europe.

Rejecting HNK Gorica in Favour of Free Summer Move

The Croatian top-tier club, HNK Gorica, was interested in signing Besir Iseni from KF Dukagjini in the winter transfer window, but R understands that the player turned down the chance to move to the Hrvatska Nogometna Liga (HNL), in order to pursue a free transfer during the upcoming summer transfer window. Also, the Skopje-born centre-back wanted to see out his contract with KF Dukagjini and help them finish the season as high as possible in the Kosovan league.

Iseni is eligible to represent the Macedonian national team, but the defender is yet to be called up for a senior debut after making a few appearances for their U21s.
