Tyrese Maxey delivered an outstanding performance, scoring 43 points to lead the Philadelphia 76ers to a 136-124 victory over the Orlando Magic on October 27, 2025. The win pushed the 76ers to a 3-0 start to the season, despite playing without their star center Joel Embiid, who was sidelined to rest his surgically repaired left knee. Maxey, now averaging 37.0 points per game, dominated the fourth quarter, scoring eight consecutive points during a critical stretch and sealing the game with a late three-pointer and a driving layup. Rookie VJ Edgecombe, the No. 3 pick in the NBA draft, continued his impressive start with 26 points, bringing his total to 75 points through his first three games. Kelly Oubre Jr. also contributed 25 points for Philadelphia. The Magic were led by Paolo Banchero’s 32 points. Desmond Bane added 24, and Franz Wagner chipped in 22. Despite a highlight three-quarter-court buzzer beater from Anthony Black at the end of the third quarter, Orlando could not halt their slide, suffering a third consecutive loss as they began a challenging five-game road trip. Veteran center Andre Drummond made history by grabbing his 11,000th career rebound, becoming just the 32nd player in NBA history to achieve the mark. The 76ers’ depth proved decisive as they overcame Embiid’s absence for the second straight game. Historically, Philadelphia has dominated this matchup, having swept the Magic in their 2023-24 season series, including a 20-point win in Orlando last December. The Sixers look to continue their strong start as they head to Washington next, while the Magic hope to bounce back against Detroit.
